Lisa Clute, PhD, DVM

Some authors collect stamps. She collects cryptids and aliens.

Armed with a PhD in microbiology and a veterinary degree, she writes cozy horror and sci-fi romance set in haunted Southern towns and faraway galaxies. Her stories blend warmth, wonder, and just enough spooky charm to keep readers glancing over their shoulders.

Expect cryptids who aren't what they seem, alien warriors with soft hearts, cursed antiques, stubborn heroines, and antagonists who have no idea who they are dealing with. She believes every monster deserves a redemption arc and every reader deserves a little magic and romance.

Her collection, Monsters Under the Magnolias: Haints, Howls, and Hospitality in a Small Southern Town is currently a semi-finalist in the 2025 CIBAs Collections and Anthologies category, which she considers a tremendous honor.

The shadows in her world have personality. The ghosts have manners. And the aliens are always dashing.

Monsters Under the Magnolias Named CIBAs Semi-Finalist I have some exciting

I have some exciting news to share.

Monsters Under the Magnolias: Haints, Howls, and Hospitality in a Small Southern Town has been named a semi-finalist in the 2025 CIBAs Collections and Anthologies category.

When I started writing these stories set in Madison, Georgia, I didn't have awards in mind. I was wondering what would happen if a frightening cryptid showed up at an elderly woman's back door during freezing cold weather and thanks to her poor eyesight, she thinks it's a sphynx cat....

❆ Holiday Magic on a Frozen Moon: Behind the Scenes of Adeline’s Abrauxian

Every book in the Abrauxian Brides universe has its own heart, but this one sparkles with a special kind of winter magic.

Adeline’s Abrauxian Santa Claws began as a simple idea: What if an Aquar’thyn heroine decided to bring Christmas to a frozen alien moon? What if she brought cinnamon, hot chocolate, twinkling Christmas lights, and pure Earth whimsy to the stark icy moon of Roxus? What if she convinced her stoic, frost-blooded Abrauxian husband with albinism to wear a red velvet cape and...

Each story introduces a different creature, myth, or misunderstood monster, but...
